Os X Still Waiting For Root Device

Oct 15, 2012 then 'still waiting on root device' repeating over and over. This problem appears to be somewhat random (i.e. Restarting over and over, at some point it won't appear). Also I did just have good luck fixing this by removing 3 of 4 sticks of ram, perhaps good to try. Jan 12, 2013 Before 'Still waiting for root device', it have 'No interval found for. Using 8000000' on both Dell XPS and the Lenovo laptop. A copy of a macOS/Mac OS X.

See if you can start up in Safe Mode. This will take awhile longer than a normal startup because it does a file check and repair of the hard disk.
If this works you will see your normal desktop. Once completely started up in Safe Mode, try to restart normally, and go to Applications/Utilities/Disk Utility. Click on the top hard drive icon in the left sidebar and note the S.M.A.R.T. status at the bottom right of the pane. What does it say?
Select the named boot volume in the left sidebar, and repair permissions on it.
If you can't start up in Safe Mode, maybe something in this Apple Knowledge Base article will help:
http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=106805
Or it may be time to invest in a disk utility such as DiskWarrior.

I tried to install Mac OS X 10.4 under PearPC, but the emulated computer will never even boot into the Mac OS X Install DVD successfully (always a prohibitory sign). After some attempts to install Mac OS X 10.4 under PearPC, which all only failed with a prohibitory sign before the Installer loads, I set prom_env_machargs to '-v', and this was the output of the emulated kernel on the next boot:

Hi,
Would try a different hard disk file. I'm assuming your current file isn't formatted correctly.
Did you download a compressed one, llike this: http://www.emaculation.com/pearpc/macosx_6gb.rar

I extracted the blank hard disk image from http://www.emaculation.com/pearpc/macosx_6gb.rar and set this in the cfg file:
pci_ide0_master_installed = 1
pci_ide0_master_type = 'hd'
pci_ide0_master_image = 'macosx_6gb.img'
pci_ide0_slave_installed ='1'
pci_ide0_slave_type = 'cdrom'
pci_ide0_slave_image = 'Mac OS X Install DVD.iso'

The problem when PearPC tries to boot from the Mac OS X Install DVD does not seem to be because of the hard drive.

Ah,
Dvd's are not/badly supported. You should be on the lookout for the 4 cd variant of the OSX 10.4 PowerPC version.
